Real Tamale United (RTU) will forever hold a special place in the history of Ghanaian football as the launching pad for one of Africa’s greatest players—Abedi Ayew Pele, “The Maestro.”
During his time at RTU, Abedi Pele showcased his immense talent and proved why he would later become a global icon. Between 1980 and 1982, he made 46 appearances in the Ghana Premier League and scored an impressive 21 goals. In 1985, he returned to the club, adding another 19 appearances and 7 goals to his record. In total, he played 65 games for RTU and netted 28 goals—statistics that underline his brilliance even at the start of his career.
