MTN Ghana has responded to a Ghanaian lady who went public to cry over and alleged unlawful withdrawal of money from her MoMo account.
The renowned telecommunications brand has claimed that it has looked into the matter, and its findings indicate that the lady shared sensitive details with a third party.
In a statement shared on X, formerly Twitter, they revealed that its a case where a person unknowingly shares sensitive information.
“Our findings suggest that this was a case of social engineering, where a person unknowingly shares sensitive information (i.e One-Time Password (OPT), One-Time verification link and PIN) with fr@ud$ters."
The statement came after a young Ghanaian lady, identified as @mill.peach, took to social media to vent her frustration after she became a victim of a mobile money sc@m.
According to the lady, who was close to tears, she explained that almost GH¢12,000 had been withdrawn from her account even though she did not sanction or approve the transaction.
